Last skimmer ? i promise

Im might go with this design when i build it. Lets say my drain line is 1" what size should the pipe around the drain line be? Should the neck of the skimmer be longer than 2". Also would it work better if i made the neck 1.5" vs. 2"?

For pipe around the drain line I would go with 2 inches.

For the neck you 2" should be fine, you will be able to adjust water level with the valves; 1 1/2" pipe will yeild more skimmate and be a little more efficient.

So 2" high on the neck and 1.5" around. Now i have to price out building a venturi vs making one like yours. With all this remodeling we are doing in our house i havnt had time to tend to my DIY projects that i want to get done. Sometime next week the 72gallon tank is coming down and being moved into a different room while we redo the floors and paint in that room.
