Does anyone know if you can drill the back part of the tank? i was thinking about putting a 1 inch bulkhead draining into a 10 gallon with a mini g skimmer.

Bump. I know the false wall is plastic, but is the back also? or is it made of glass?

One way you could tell is try scraping the back and glass is harder to scrape(scrape somewhere not that noticable)like real low.

It seams to be glass. I know this is not the best idea but, i was thinking of using a Power head to take the water out of the tank, and one to put it back in. How much water do you think a ASM mini g needs to be able to skim?

The question about the glass? Scrape it with a razor knife. You can't get scrapings/shavings from glass, you will from plastic/acrylic. From reading about it, the tank is glass though. What is the bottom made of? Plastic or glass? The easiest way to tell is to look at the seams. If it is siliconed in, it is probably glass as silicone doesn't stick to acrylic. Maybe you could drill a bulkhead in the bottom instead of the back.

The idea of using a pump to remove water and one to put it back in is a disaster waiting to happen. If one of the pumps fails, you have a disaster on your hands. Not to mention the aspect of trying to adjust the two pumps to match one another so that they remove/return water at the same rate.
