I'm Back and need a tank...

Been away from the hobby for a little while and recently got the bug again.

Sold off the old tank and some equipment but since I build my own, that's no problem.

Wanting to stay smallish, I want to use a single sheet of 3/8" cast to build the tank. Since "gas" is down, I'm sure that the cost of acrylic has not followed that trend. So with that in mind, I can get a tank that is about 36" long x 22" high x 23 1/2" wide or about 75gals worth of tank from the one sheet. Will stay at 22" tall cause I have short arms

I want to have a rear overflow on the back of the tank (outside) and want to know how wide do I need to go? I'm guessing about a 20" wide overflow and about 16" high by about 8" out. The top of the tank will have a euro brace and that will be carried over to the overflow so i will have about a 5" opening for my hand/arm to get down to the bottom if I need to.

Not sure what kind of thank this will be, but for sure I will house rose's again.

TIA

Your dimensions should be fine. A lot of folks to coast-to-coast external overflows, but 20" would be pretty good as well. I'm not sure what 8" out means, would it essentially be a 20x16x8 box? That seems a bit excessive, but it should work well.

Bascially a 20" x 16" x 8" box on the backside to catch water, yes. Thinking about the setting the height of the tank about 1" to 1.5" below the top of the euro brace and that's why the 20" width. I might cut the depth of the box though, from 8" to 6"

James @ Envision plastics posted a pix of one of his tanks that had this feature. Looked really nice, less headaches. The water just cascaded thru the opening into the box.
