I need a better venturi

I finally broke down and ditched my frankenstiened seaclone and got a CPR SR4. This skimmer has so much potential it ain even funny. The wee little venturi device that comes with the rio 1700 is a caus for concern though. Any thought on how to add a beefier venturi to this setup? Do I have to have it befor the pump or can I add it after the pump? Plus are there any good links for DIY venturis or even a place to buy a ready made one?

Here is a link to Wharyat's DIY skimmer that uses a DIY venturi, he has even created an Autocad drawing of how to build it. I am planning to use one this weekend on my DIY skimmer. HTH.
