loverotties,
You are correct. You win! whoo hooo.
OMFg, I can not believe this thread came back to life, and that i got notified of it. I havent been on this forum in ages... WOW.
If i remember correctly, rheostats are for AC circuits, motors and such. All you would need is resistor, or a variable resistor.
You can get them from radio shack also. it will have three tabs, you will want to connect the center and end, (only two).
You can also get a 'thermistor' which will change the resistance based on temperature.
I dont know off hand what 'value'/resistance you need.
It can be figured out with OHM's law.R=V/A
Resistance = Volts divided by amps
Unfortunately, that is all i remember.I dontknow how to use that to determine theresistance needed to change the voltage.
If i were to guess, you would run the formula for both 12volts and then maybe 2 volts, and that might give you the range the resistor should be in???
but, we are talking about something i leaerned almost a half century ago, and i barely remember my name now???
This resistor would be put, in series, that is ... but one wire coming from the wall wort, (power supply), and splice the resistor, thermistor, or Potentiometer, in between that wire you just cut.
Or you could but a on/off switch there also...
good luck

Yeah, I was the one to revive the thread asking about the rheostat.
Thanks for your input, you were pretty much dead on. I used the formulas and came up with the proper rheostat from radio shack. Thanks for your help.

Just so you know, it means something else too. When you see a biker with FTW tattooed on his throat that doesn't mean he plays warcraft. lol
