How to Build A Tank Stand

So im looking into either building myself a stand and canopy, or building around one i already have. Im not much of a handyman, but will give it my best try if any of you are willing to help.

1)First of all i want to start of by asking how hard would it be to build one from scratch?

2) would i be able to use the skeleton of the stand i already have? If so i would like to make it a little bit taller, and close it off.

Your help will be greatly appreciated here are some pictures of the stand i already own. I want to have the 20 gallon down there as a sump, but i wont be able to place a skimmer because its to close.

I wouldn't reuse the old stand if you want to make it different. If you go to www.garf.org you can get step by step instructions and a cut list for a stand of whatever size you want.

THere is nothing wrong with closing it off, making it taller is where the problems will arise.
