how do i make a DIY float switch with relay and solenoid

asked over on RC and they have not been very helpfull , mostly just links to threads that are very hard to understand for someone who has no clue how to do electrical work.

thought someone might post a quick step by step with a simple diagram and a few links for what float switch, solenoid , relay and power supply to buy. This would be very helpfull to thouse of us that are electrically challenged.

Where do you plan on putting float switch? If you are looking for one like a Condansate Make up that can sit in a sump goto any plumbing supply house and ask them make sure its not copper or brass. as far as the electrcal part they are fairly simple if you are using 120 VAC supply (normal home Wiring) On the solenoid there will be 3 wires a Green which goes to a solid ground and 2 either black or red it dosent matter which wire you hook your hot leg to. you will have a black and white coming out of your electrical supply from house and hook 1 of each to those red or black wires. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A SOLID EARTH GROUND anytime your doing electicty with H20 involved

i was thinking about this today at work. the problem with most solenoids is they have a brass piston in it that closes/open h20 flow. you can pick one up at any HVAC supply house or a plumbing supply house.

Unless you are really comfortable with electrical components, I would recommend trying to DIY on this one, there are electric level switches available that are fairly cheap and will turn off and on a powerhead in a remote water topoff container.
There are also RO shutoff devices that shut off the water supply to an RO unit via solenoid, someone was just talking about these in detail within the last week. A back search out to pull them up
