hose barb to pvc adapter?

Do they make one? My pump for the CLS has hose barb attachments.... I don't trust that flexible hose stuff.. Or I don't trust myself working with that flexible hose stuff...

Any advice?

Thanks!!

what you'll have to do is use a short piece of tube to conect pump hose barb to the barb/threaded fiting. if you look at the pic look by the pump you can see what I'm talkin about .

I boil some water in the microwave, then submerse my flexitube in that for a few seconds, then attach it to the hose barb. When the rubber cools it shrinks forming a super tight seal.

Has anyone ever had any issues using flexitube using this method? because i have not.

Very clever, I'm impressed. Wow, that same idea could be carried forward to do much more, as an alternative to a sump. My pico fantasies are starting to congeal. Thank you, thank you, Thank you!

Okay,

I'm totally confused now... Basically, CAN I run this pump with PVC tubing. I DO NOT want to use flex-tube. Do I have a choice?

dhoffroad says,

"use a short piece of tube to conect pump hose barb to the barb/threaded fiting"

What's a barb/threaded fitting? I know this sounds stupid but I really don't get it, and I can't see it in the picture. I've never done a whole lot of piping work so I need somebody to break it down idiot style for me. A link to that fitting somewhere would be really great....

I swear I'm fairly intelligent, you just can't tell from this post...

THANK YOU ALL!!

I don't think there is any other way to do it you WILL have to use a SHORT piece of hose.

I have a closed loop on my 29G but would like two small maybe 1/2" piping and maybe use my maxijet 400 to add a small amount of flow in the middle...
