Can you show me how to make one? I get the idea of it but I don't see how to make it silent.

I can make a regular overflow silent but the way I'm picturing a C2C is that it is too shallow to add the plumbing.

A C2C can be any height you want it. Simply build it tall enough (deep enough) to hold your plumbing.

Which style are you looking at? The one that has the weir inside the tank or the one that has the PVC running between the bulkheads?
Hey at anyrate, it was a free bump so Geoff can see it in the morning

sorry, big weekend.
you are right there is not a lot of room to make the overflow drain part of the C2C silent. i made a 45 degree angle durso standpipe for mine. it worked alright. i could not make it absolutely silent though. i also had a huge uphill battle. the vertical distance of drain was about 10' the amount of air that was needed to exchanged seemed to be fighting me all of the time. i used a 1.5" drain line with only about 500gph of flow. i think if i was able to get a bit of angle on the drain like i could have made it silent. letting the air get out cleanly.

The weir is going to be on the inside and it is going to be about 6 inches deep. Should I put the bulk heads and stand pipe through the bottom of the tank?

my weir was only 4" deep, so yours being 6" will me much better. i drilled all of the holes through the back of the tank behind the weirs.
the water did not actually overflow into the weir the water level in the weir and in the tank were the same. the weir was just used to keep the critters from getting injured by the intakes for all of the CLS pumps. the water level was controlled by the 45 degree standpipe. how much water are you looking to drain to the sump?

I'm prolly going to be draining around 1200 gallons per hour. I got 2-1.5 inch bulkheads and 2-1 inch bulkheads for returns. I'm wanting to get a reeflow snapper for the return and choke it off a bit. I think 6 foot head on them is around 1500GPH.

are you sure you want to use a snapper for the return? that is a low pressure pump. using 1" pipe will really cut down on its flow.
the drains are they going to stay separated all the way to the sump or are you going to try and combine them after the drains?

I want to use the snapper because of its rediculously low energy use. Its about 90 watts at a 6 foot head as apposed to a mag 1800 at 145 watts. They also run very quiet... Not silent but very quiet.
There will be a single 1.5 inch line coming off of the snapper and then splitting off into 2-1 inch lines then to 2-3/4 inch SCWDs for a return. I was thinking I was going to have a pair of 1.5 inch lines for overflow to the sump but I want to have the best chance for silence so what do you recommend?

If you have a different idea let me know. You know I'm always up for suggestions.
Low power consumption is important.
Noise, initial cost, heat transfer, among other things are also important.

those pumps are really designed for CLS systems. you can try it the way you have it designed, but i have a feeling you will be better off using that pump with nothing on the outlets. that will probably give you the most flow for the lowest wattage.
i like to run all of my returns over the top of the tank instead of drilling. keeps the amount of backflow down to minimum.

I'm not really looking for the most flow. I am only looking for about 1200GPH at that head. Its all my skimmer will process with out wasting bubbles. Really I should only be doing around 800GPH just to keep it in the skimmer longer.
I want to have the tank as close to the wall as I can. Thats why I want to run the plumbing through the tank.
If you have a better pump in mind speak up. I have looked and that snapper is the best I can find.
