Geoff ?

Our 100aga long is in need of more flow. The tank is BB right now and have plans to upgrade to an in-wall at the end of the year. I want to tear the tank down again and put in a LR rack/sray bar with a mag 9.5 running it. Have thought of using your eductor's in front of the pump and the other end connected to the rack.
Do you think this will work and increase the flow from the mag 9? It's what I have handy and a simple install. It'll be hidden behind the rock in the tank.
Or just raise the LR up off the bottom and run just the mag w/the eductor I figure this will be a temporary fix.

i would actually just use the mag 9.5 for the spraybar back behind the LR. the eductor barely works with my mag 12. i actually think it is about even with what the flow would be without it. it does provide more penetrating ability to the flow though. it increases the velocity enough that it actually give better flow to the other side of the tank. i do not think however it is producing more total flow out of the nozzle than it would without it.

have you thought about drilling the tank? i would suggest this if you are going to be putting it in a wall. i drilled my wifes tank quite easily, we did it even with water in it. we just drilled the drains. here tank does not have enough LR to need a spraybar so all of the returns are over the top to keep the amount of water drained when the power goes out to a minimum.

spraybars require a lot of flow in order to work. people do not realize how much each hole in the spraybar decreases the amount of flow out of the other holes. i like to keep a fair amount of velocity out of my spraybars behind the rocks. this keeps the detritus from being able to pile up close to the spraybar.

HTH,

G~

I didn't think so, I'll just have it sit on the bottom w/the eductor and just have a short rack to raise the rocks up. This current tank will not be the inwall - that'll be the ply wood one.

thanks Geoff
