float switch

anyone know if there is a kind of mechanical float switch that would allow water to drain from a reservoir when the level in the tank drops? I can only find electronic ones that are connected to a pump. I want to put a water reservoir above the sump and just have gravity drain water out of the reservoir when the tank level drops.....it seems like it should be simple to make a float switch to do this...but I can't think of how. Any ideas?
thanks,
mark

Sure You can fine one. Think about it all you need to do is have a valve with a float like a swamp cooler when the level goes down it opens and when it reach the set level it will close. very simple thing todo.

It won't need to be SW safe as the top off will be fresh water.

nevermind...I think this is exactly what I was looking for. I just needed to search for "float valve" instead of "float switch." thanks!
