I'll post some pics later...Geoff, what about making some concrete/LR like stuff (take CC/aragonite and mix it with some light mortar without sand), and then pour it into a square form, and then cut, grind, and shape to your heart's content?

that sounds like a great idea!! do not know how hard it will be though. aragonite is easily chipped and ground, so i am hoping for something close.

I just finished the coating process....am waiting for the mortar to set up a bit. I made a trial piece of LR using a glove to make "caves" and a small form (2.5 gallon tank), and I built up the aragonite/mortar mix around the glove into the corner of the tank for a corner piece of LR for the new nano. I hope the tank sets up quickly. You could also try to get some rock...it's called Vanu, or nanu...arrr...I can't remember the name. It's used in landscaping. They mined it up in Toledo/sandusky for years, and people used it in their gardens to grow plants in, because it is so porous. It felt exactly like dry live rock, and it was limestone in composition. I'll try to get you the name for it...it might be exactly like what you were looking for.

Here's and idea I used to put the rock together in my tank. http://www.reeferrocks.com/baserock/diyprojects.htm

I varied it by using acrylic rods the rod used on mini-blinds to turn them up or down, available at Lowe's as a replacment rod. Nice thing aobut it is it is round with ridges on it. I found the 1/2" drill worked great and was a tight enough fit that I didn't have to use any glue or epoxy. I haven't had a single rock fall in my tank since I set it up a year ago. This pic is after just a couple of months, it's all hidden now.
