Drilling rubbermaid for bulkhead

I am planning to install sump in the basement and use Iwaki 70RLT and I have to drill one inch hole for bulkhead so that I can use the Iwaki.
The head to the tank is about 15".
I am looking for about 50 gallon sump.

Are the rummbermaid containers strong enough for the bulkhead?

It depends on which Rubbermaid containers you get. Try checking with a Tractor Supply Company (If they have one in PA) and look at a watering trough.

I have two 50 gallon troughs made by rubbermaid and have 3- 1" bulkheads drilled in them.. they work fine. you wont have a problem, they are REAL strong. and you can find thoughs already setup for plumbing to be added.. think its 1.25 or 1.5".. only problem I had was finding a part on the tub where I could get a bulkhead flat enough. I just gooped it with alot of silicone before putting the water in.

I've never had a rubbermaid container that held water well, not be strong enough for a bulkhead.

You need to get the live stock water trough ones, they are indestructable. As stated most of them come with the section for plumbing already in them as that is what they are made for in the first place. We have 3 for our outdoor animals, been outside holding water for years and the color has hardly even faded on them. If I had the room in the house I would definitely look into setting up one of these as a sump.
