i thnk its ok but the bio-ball part i think if food or detiriouse gets stuck in there it can rot and give you problems or maybe i did not understand the way it worked but looks nice and really cheap $40 compared to a couple hundred wow coulnt hurt to try

i do not see why it would not work. the expensive part is going to be the acrylic. looks like mine, but using tupperware instead of acrylic. getting tube acrylic in short sections is not super difficult on ebay. i would prolly just use acrylic instead of the tupperware.

thanks for the feedback guys. I might not do this one cause i'm not sure about the bioballs. never heard of using those in a skimmer. Still need to build one cause I dont have $250+ for one.

A nice application of "found items" the bioball work two ways, the body is only 16 to 18 inchs tall, so, no real dwell time and so much turbulance it would be unmanageable at best. The biggest drawback is actually the pump, its very easy to get a pump that delivers 1000 to 1500 gph, quite another to get 7 psi to make it work well
