DIY temperature probe

I've finally put together a writeup about my online temperature datalogger/webcam. The tank page can be seen at

http://www.gimpymonkey.org/testcam.php

The writeup on the circuitry behind this page can be found at:

http://www.gimpymonkey.org/article.p...30105201014673

The temperature logger is still pretty primitive, however it is coming up on its' first birthday, and is still working like a champ. This system could be easily modified to function as a complete temperature controller, or by adding additional circuitry it could be pressed into service as a tank condition monitor/controller.

Cheers, JJ

Very interesting. Wish I had more time. I'd love to play with that. Any idea what is causing the spiking in the room temp reading?

Our furnace My excellent design skillx left me with no choice but to place the box directly in the airflow of the furnace vent. Whoops! .

Next time I get around to playing with this thing I'll add some leads to the room temp probe to move it away from the MH ballasts/computer/furnace vent so that I can get some usable data out of the room temp probe.

Over the course of the summer I was able to get some fairly useful readings off it, allowing me to beter time the fans I have setup on the tank, bringing my daily temp swing in the tank down from 3-4 degrees to what it is now.

Cheers, JJ
