DIY stand

I will be moving this summer and now almost have my sump all put together and set up for after the move (thanks for everyone's help by the way). I wanted to get another stand due to water damage from a little overflow from awhile back, before things collapse if they will. A few questions...

1. I have a 55G tank, could I build a 75 or 95G stand to place the tank on or would the supports and frame not be sufficient?
2. Any links to plans?
3. Tips from anyone so I don't have a catastrophe?

Thanks a bunch

The 55 gallon tank is 48" X 12" the 75 and 90 gallon is 48" x 18"...So If you built a stand with the top at 48" X 18" It should handle all three sizes.....

So it doesn't matter if it is perfectly centered?

If your building your own stand, that I would have the top at about 3/4" thick....like a table top...then it would support the 55 at 12" wide and the 75 or 90 at 18" wide....Like setting the tanks on a table....see what I mean...Thats the way I build mine.....As opposed to the rails that the tank sits on.....

Measure from one corner to the farthest corner on one side then measure the two opposite corners and you should get the exact same measurements. If you do its square. Do that on all six sides.

I actually meant the stand like three90's said, that system sounds more confusing than I had anticipated. But if you have any advice on angles of the overflow/sump plumbing that would be helpful Mike.

I will be having the sump on the floor next to the tank and the overflow on the same side back corner of the main tank.

To keep thing plumb as level on your stand measure like three90's posted and also you could get a 2 foot level.

The plumbing I try to keep pretty much as straight as I can, (more Appealing to the eye IMO) without seeing your sump, and you posted that it will be next to the display tank, then you may need to use some elbows, because I assume your return and your intake might be in two different locations in the sump. I would try to use less elbows on the return, But thats just me.

Agree and use 45s instead of 90s if you can.
