i recently built a skimmer and still smells like the pvc cement. is there a process to remove these ordors or is this something not to worry about?

how long is "recently?" You may try running it in a bucket or other water vessel in a 5:1 water/vinegar solution for a day or so. That may help clean out any residual contaminants.

I agree with the vinegar with water.

It depends on construction methods. Over time, the solvents will evaporate however, if the joints are thicker or there are overlapping sections it may be up to two weeks before the pieces cure. In effect, the smells youre experiancing are the solvents disipating. I've been working on a number of small-run skimmer builds lately and after a week the smell disappears on most of my projects. How long have you been waiting? It could take up to two weeks...
