Hey Vince, do you think you could find Doug's old plans you keep referring to?

I like! I have a friend (believe it or not) that works for the City, He is going to get me a 4ft piece of 12 inch PVC. Can you say MONSTER! I just have to try it! I have no idea about the pump Ill use or anything. But should be fun! Its gonna be a re-circ.
Vince, I love your drawings! Still plan on the system you drew up a while back with the two overhead surge tanks???

Nice, a skimmer made out of that 12" might pull out some junk. Prolly a high pressure pump or two at 3-5000 gph would work great. I remember Roger was working with a piece of PVC about that same size, only problem was a 12" cap costs $600!
Yeah, that surge tank design is still in the works; I prolly wont be building for a year or two (need to get my own place ). Since I figured out how easy DIY'ing a tank is, that one will definately be a DIY acrylic @ around 180g.

Vince, GREAT job!
Love the Cad drawing too.
Only thing is...I can see the Mag hook up plumbing in the perspective drawing, but can't see how the actual pieces fit in the 2nd drawing, for that part.

I am trying to understand how the water comes out, (I am DIY challenged). Goes in to the body at about mid-body and then the water will just find the tube in the middle of the body? do you have a lot of microbubles in the tank? Most skimmers I have seen have the water outlet near the top but on yours the water starts its way out from the bottom, right?

Yep, that's right. Water in the side, up and out the pipe in the middle. Since the inlet for the outlet is so close to the bottom of the skimmer, microbubbles don't have a chance to get out since they rise to the top.
Geoff's design has a triple pass tube (which since this is 3" PVC, I just couldn't fit one in). Here is his design.
Mike, I think I still have the file from this someplace; I'll render out some more pics of the construction technique.
