DIY Remora Drain Fitting

Hey, I've got my AquaC Remora (hang-on) under my tank haning on my sump/refugium now, but it's a little harder to get the collection cup now. So, I was looking in to building a drain fitting for it to drain into a larger collection cup. Does anyone have any kind of advice as to how I should go about doing this? What parts should I use, etc? Thanks!

it is acrylic, right? you can get a 1/4"mpt tap and tap the side of the collection cup. you can then use a 1/4" MPT to barb adaptor and drain the skimmate out of the collection cup into a jug. i think you can also find 1/2" taps there also. the bigger the better, it may not clog as easily.

Then you need to cut out a grove on the side you do it to the colection cup of the skimmer so you can slide it up and down for ajustment and to clean out.You could call them and they mite send you the fitting for free. They sent me the rubber o-ring and to clean out plugs(cause I got one of there first modals off of e-bay and they didn't make it with a plug). They are nice people give them a call! They would help you out!

How are you planning on easily cleaning the scum tower and cup? My Remora doesn't work well at all unless both of these are really clean.

Well, I have the Remora AquaC HOB skimmer and it's been running for about 2 -3 weeks. It's brand new and purchased from MarineDepot. Since the pump is brand new, I'm wondering what else the problem could be. I would imagine it should be broken in by now.
