No, I reduced the amount of water that flows out of the tank into the sump to reduce the noise. Otherwise when the water level drops to a certain point, the intakes will create the flushing toilet effect (can’t find a better way to describe this). In other words, this overflow outputs more than what the return pump can input, that’s why I reduced the flow with valves at the end.

This is also a problem with "standard" overflows, thats why the Stockman/Durso mods are so popular, because it eliminates most of the noise associated with water being sucked down the drains

I wonder whether you could adapt the same principle to this design?

hey you said that the "twisted upward tube" is not needed? in the link that you gave in the first post to the computer generated drawing there is just a little stub coming out of the "cross" fitting is that just to help "prime" the system, and then when running, it needs to be capped off ?? or dose it need to remain open for air ?? TIA

i think it helps it do drain better. it keeps air from getting trapped in they system causing glub noises.

can you post a pic of yours?
do you have that tube pointing upwards that is open to the air? this will act like a siphon break. without it it will just siphon water until the inlets get exposed to the air.

no I did'nt put that tube on, it seems like when the water level gets close to the inlets it starts sucking air in the inlets ( you can hear the suckin sound ). as for a pic right now it is kinda in two pieces and out in the garage ( started to get a little fustrated so I had to stop for the night) but if you think it will help I will get some in the morning.

been there before.
i think pics would help a lot. there are a lot of tubes that need to be longer than others. if they are not then there will not be enough water volume to work properly.
