DIY Metal Halide 71A5770 ballast

I was searching for the DIY metal halide and I came across this http://www.personal.psu.edu/faculty/...hlighting.html

I am thinking about purchasing the 71A5770-001 ballast, does anyone has the wiring diagram for it?
Has anyone used this ballast in their diy light?

not sure which ballast i have in my high bay light fixture. i find deals all of the time on MH ballasts. most of the time they are in the form of a HID light fixture. i had a 400w MH fixture from HD for $30. they were closing them out. i pretty much used it as is except for the bulb. i also have an old 175w high bay fixture i got for $50. once again used it straight up except for the bulb.

i am sure the ballast you have listed will be fine. most ballasts come with the wiring diagram already on them. if they are coil ballasts than the wirind diagram will come in the box.

Did some more research on 71A5770-001 250 watt ballast, it is a core-coil. It is recommended to use 6500K Iwasaki 250 watt bulb with this ballast.

Can any other buld be used this?

as long as it is an M58 ballast you can use all kinds of bulbs on it. pretty much any bulb that is single ended will work. you are not only limited to the Iwasaki bulb.

OK got two Advance 71A5770 ballasts from ebay ($50 shipped).
Please take a look at my wiring.

The ballast came with three prewired wires on coil and one prewired wire on capacitor. Wires labeled "Wire label" are prewired.
Here is how I plan to wire:
Hook up the negative to one of the "COM" on the ballast.
Hook up the other COM to the negative on mogul socket.
Hook up the positive to the 120 V prong on the ballast.
Hook up the wire labeled CAP to the empty capacitor prong.
Hook up the wire labeled LAMP to the positive on mogul socket.

If anyone has a 250 Watt mogul socket (M58) bulb, that they plan on throwing it away please ship it to me (I would be more than happy to pay for shipping and handling).
I do not want to hook up brand new $70 bulb until I can confirm that it is working. I will also check Home Depot if they have any cheap MH bulb for testing purposes.
