If its powered by submerged powerheads like the author originally planned then siphoning is not an issue since the powerheads are in the tank, the same would apply if its hooked up to a closed loop, where the water is drawn thru one or more intake bulkheads, hard plumbed to an external pump and back into the tank and to the spraybar/rack with no open areas in the plumbing(ie drain to sump, then pumped back up)
