it is not super easy to do long term, from what i have read. the problem has to do with the powering circuit for the bulb banks. it is nice and easy to just wire them up and they work, the problem comes after the first bulb burns out. then they start cascading because of overdriving. getting a circuit designed that will keep the voltages constant for all bulbs even if one goes out seems to be the biggest problem with using LED lighting for aquariums.
the bulbs do not seem to be as long lasting as advertised. how many LED traffic lights do you see that do not have any burned out bulbs in them?
