measure the tank

decide what you wanna build the stand out of
draw out how you want it to look..
buy materials and tools needed. (keep a list handy)
measure twice.. cut once.. (or in my case measure 2 or 3 times and still be 1/4 inch off...)

but be safe and have fun...

depends on what you build it out of.. but if you spend the extra $$ and build it strong and out of real wood.. (not pressboard and such) then it will last a long time.

with any $$ project buy stuff a little at a time.

That would depend on how fancy you wanted it. The stand that my 55G is on came from Walmart and was under 100 dollars. It is black and only has 2 doors. One drawback to mine is that it has a divider in the middle of the stand.

If you want, send me a PM and I can talk to you about a stand. I am in the middle of building 3 now (for me), but, could build a 4th while I am here. Get some idea of height and drawer/door configuration and I could give you a pretty good idea of what it would cost to build it.
