Question

Coast to Coast idea.

i want to finally add a Coast to coast overflow to my 125. the problem is that it is a glass tank. i would like to make it out of acrylic. i am thinking of a 6 foot u beam across the back. what i am wondering how do i connect it to the tank without it leaking. i am not thinking i can just cut the holes in the glass and the acrylic and just throw the bulkhead in it. it seems that it would leak between the glass/acrylic interface. i do not trust sillycone in there, unless there is a magic one that i am not aware of.

am i going at this the wrong way? is there another option?

thanks,

G~

I would contact Loctite and speak to one of their applications engineers. They solved a bejillion problems for me in my former career like how to bond rubber to nylon, and tons of other plastics applications. Once you find out post it here or let me know and I can call the guy that helped me out a few times if I kept his card.

You might want to use some of that etching stuff on your glass which comes in a kit at an auto parts store to put your ladies name on the back of yer pickup. That will give the adhesive a bite, but if it is a cyanoacrylate then you want smooth to smooth as it will not fill voids.

If you want to test things out on your own go to www.loctiteproducts.com and they have a cool Choose a Glue thingy. You can buy most glues they make at www.mcmaster.com I picked plastics and glass using the adhesive selection guide and there is a long set epoxy which is waterproof that looks perfect.
