Canister Filter to a Calcium Reactor

Does anyone know how to modify an Eihem Canister Filter into a calcium reactor? All ideas are more than welcome.

i would be afriad of the material in the eheim not to be ozone safe. i have thought about doing this many times and never have for this reason.

if someone else could jump in here with a solid answer it would be great!

should not be a problem. CO2 is not as mean to plastics as ozone is. i have heard of other people doing, i have not seen a website on it yet, but will keep looking. as long as you know how a Ca reactor works just about anything can be used to make one. i will prolly be building one shortly out of PVC. the only problem i can see for you is making sure that you have somekind of filter to keep the particles out of the recirculating pump.

i do not have any specifics since i have never taken apart an Eheim.

The main prob I see is the Ehiem isnt really setup to recirculate, you need that, and add CO2 to drop the pH enough to dissolve the argonite media, its barely soluble at normal SW pH

I believe Ehiems Canister filter push water the wrong way. In my ca reactor the water flows from top to bottom, not bottom to top. If you could figure a way to reverse the water flow then it would be good. I stoped a bit to think, and maybe it doesn't matter what way the water flows as long as you inject the CO2 into the impeller area and drawn water from the tank in the same area aswell. You would also have to get a outlet somewhere to drip the effluent out. I believe if you got it to work it wouldn't be as efficient as the ones that are on the market. You should check out the reactors online and try to duplicate the ones they have. You should be able to build one for less that 50-100 dollars from parts you get at homedepot.
Goodluck!!!!
