I don't believe that impeller can be modded. As someone said above, meshwheel and wire mods are for needlewheel impellers. Needlewheels draw both air and water into the impeller chamber and chops the water up into tiny bubbles. The mesh and extra wire help to draw more air into the chamber and to chop the air into even smaller bubbles. The terminator is a venturi skimmer. That works by drawing air into the water stream beyond the impeller. I don't know how to improve that design, but I think that it depends heavily on the pressure of the water flow. Hopefully, the mod that you did will not decrease the pressure generated by your pump.

Yes, right now your skimmer is designed with a venturi... When the air is drawn in after the pump. The part you broke. If you replace that part with a solid piece of tube and then drill the tube on the intake side, you would create more of NW rather than a venturi intake style. Look at RC skimmers w/ needwheels such as ER or deltec to get an idea of what marineduud was refering to

Can a traditional powerhead be turned into a needlewheel? Probably, but you have to adjust the air intake. Too much air and the impeller will cavitate, too little air and it simply won't be very effective. You will likely need some kind of air adjustment valve.

so remove that whole part and pipe it in with a solid piece..then drill another hole with air line?..i dont understand how that will make a difference if thats what was kinda on there be4 ..any pics on doing it ?

I dunno, Sorry it's an avenue I would not take unless I knew for sure there was no hope of wanting to sell it later. I was unaware of the venturi style when we were swapping PMs on upgrading. The site I was reading on it planing stated "needle wheel like"...

The swapping it in this situation would be beneficial, but so would keeping the venturi and mating the skimmer to a larger pump. The physics we discussed still apply, it just changes how to go about getting more...

So I'm going to leave it in you hands at this point as I don't want to lead you into something that you may be unhappy with later. Either way, once you decide on what you want to do, any number of people will definately help you out!
