can i make anything useful out of some old fluval canister filters?

i just got 3 fluval 35s and 2 fluval 405s.
they all work and are for the most part brand new.
is there anything besides selling them i can do with them to make them worth the space they take up?

just curious.

They can do a heck of a job of running carbon thoroughly for your system.

Although, i would instead recommend selling them and buying a $35 Two little Fishies Phosban reactor to do it just as well.

One might make a good maintenance filter to pull diatris out of the sump or run carbon or put some fine filter floss in and polish the water after disturbing the sand bed… I would sell all but one

I've seen people (mainly nano-tankers) just load them up with LR rubble. Makes a decent pod haven, I guess.

I agree with this and if you need phosphate or nitrate reducing media too.
