Bulk Head Information
A few reminders on the bulkheads which you probably already know but just to be sure.
The seal goes on the flange side between the flange and the glass not between the nut and the glass. They can be installed either way with the flange or nut on the side with water as long as the seal is in the right place. Most people put the nut on the outside so it can be tightened or removed easily. Also the thread won't fill with crud if it's out of the water.
If your seal has tiny ribs on one side place them towards the glass.
Hand tight means hand tight. Using a pipe wrench that is in your hand does not count as hand tight.
No lube or silicone on the seal. It can cause it to bunch up when you tighten the nut. Make sure the glass is very clean with no major chips around the drilled hole.
If you plumbing is heavy it helps to support it using pipe hangers or some other method. Pipes when filled with water can put strain on the bulkhead and cause it to split.
Sorry if this information is redundant.
