Broken Mogul Socket - do I need to replace?

Howdy folks

Sorry for the elementary question - I was clumy enough last night while modifying my MH hood to drop the mogul socket, ceramic side down (of course!) The ceramic is cracked on both sides, but all still holding together. Do I need to replace it?

sam , you could try some super glue in the cracks and then smear some silicone over the cracks to help it stay water tight . maybe as extra holding power put a hose clamp around it to help keep it together . or just buy another one if you feel uncomfortable about reusing it . they shouldn't be that expensive ! you could also buy the cheapest light fixture with a mogul base from h.d. or lowes and strip it out of there .

Thanks all for the advice. I may do a combination of both - patch up for now while I'm waiting for a new socket.

cheers
