brass in salt


Are brass fitings bad to use in a salt water tank?

yes!

it contain copper. brass is a compound made up of copper and zinc. neither of which is good in the SW environment.

i am assuming you are having problems finding fittings to work on your plumbing. try Lowe's instead of HD, they have a better selection of small plastic fittings. it may take several fittings to do the task you want, but it is better to use plastic than any other material.
