big inwall setup info/links needed

The more detailed the better. I have helped a friend setup a reef tank in a 100 that I sold him and he and his father are both incredible DIY'ers and are now pursuing the idea of doing a 300 to 500 inwall. They are starting to seriously push my own knowledge and I would appreciate any help with finding sites or links that could show what the total necessary investment in time and materials would be.

They would do all their own plumbing, electrical, construction work and are just after me for advice.

Anyone have a direction for me to head in?

Thanks!
bb

i would start here. Mojo and Steve Weast have some good write ups and pics in there.

this is one of those things that being there or really good pics help a lot. what are they pushing your knowledge on?

I have never done a truly large tank, so I have no idea where the pitfalls of such an endeavor lie. Don't know how much or what brand of pumps, etc to recommend for big setups, what is the most functional, user friendly design, etc, etc...

thanks for the link, I'll explore it after work,
cheers,
bb

Pumps - they will need big ones that push large volumes aka/ Sequence or AMP master's

This is no one hard and fast design rule- every tank setup is different but still uses the same things. ie; closed loop, sump, fuge, return pump, circulation, lighting, coolong (fans) or chiller) some sort of calicum addition, water top off with kalk, and a controller to help with all this

Just that the different "system's" are larger
