Is that a brand? You can get GE 1 for windows and doors at most hardware stores (lowes, home depot, etc.), and many folks use this for making baffles in a sump or similar.

I wouldn't use it for a display tank, i would get the All Glass brand silicone for a DT. I have noticed that the GE type 1 silicone has a habit of turning green. I had seen this in many others tanks, and including my own sump....

Is there any other brand/source for that type silicone Tony? I have always told people to use GE Type 1 but had never heard of it turning green. Green silicone isn't good as one of the copper warning signs is green silicone.

I purchased the GE brand and called the number on the back of the bottle, they told me not to use it. that it can mess with the PH.
so i purchased this from e bay
10.1 oz Tube of Nuflex 333 100% Aquarium Safe Silicone Sealant
really cheap only $8
i want to add the link but i cant dont have 20 posts yet
but it looks good to me.

I think I may email glass cages and see what they use. I do know that I used the "Lexan" brand silicone and it never turned green....
BTW Randy, i think the green i am seeing is algae growth, but it's like a pale yellow/green, not the blue green from copper

Thanks Tony. If you can find out, let us know? A lot of people ask about what type Silicone to use and finding one that is reef safe that doesn't turn colors would be a good one to know about. I wonder if copper turns GE silicone blue/green?

I have talked to a few tank builders and they all used the GE Silicone 1, 100% Silicone and have told me to make sure I got one that didn't have the mold inhibitor as the inhibitor is what causes the problems with it. Would be nice to know if 3M makes one that is reef safe and is comparable in cost to the GE, or maybe even cheaper.
