Anyone have experience with T5 Diy?

I was wondering because it seems to me that doing it yourself only saves about 50 dollars for a tek t5 8x54 set. Is that true or am I missing some important information on making my own lights?

Chris on the T5's cant say, but really diy is a part of the hobby that provides a measure of control over not too well understood equipment and a perfect excuse to play in the shop under the guise of monetary savings lol

depending on the project there sometimes is not any monetary savings. the advantage of DIY is the fact that the finished project will be exactly what you need. aquariums, regardless of whether it is FW or SW are individual entities. no two are exactly the same. either finding the correct coloured stand to match the decor of the house or finding a sump that can fit behind a stairwell. sometimes the product you need does not exist. luckily aquariums are very easy to modify, or finding other products to modify for the situation is pretty easy with enough research.
