Anybody try spray bar LR support racks?

Any of you DIYers ever try to build a spray bar LR support rack?

I was considering doing a BB tank, and building some spray bars/manifolds to help w/flow...

But I can't figure out how to hide them until I thought about support racks...

Any experience there?

Thought the duality of it all would be kind of neat, and could be beneficial... But it might just be too much..

Whady'all think??

If you do a search in the big tank archive, there is a member (Steve Wiest I think ) with an 850g in wall set up that is amazing. He has a sand bed but its only in visable areas. The LR supports are just as you say, a spray bar set up. The flow keeps the gunk out from under the rock. He has a website but I couldnt find it, Im sure someone else around here has it. I have seen similar set ups and the one factor that seems common is that such designs take a very large amount od flow. I have a 48 in straight bar and it is pushed by an 850gph pump. When I upgrade I am going to use the same idea. Just remember that elbows take flow away so the simple design is best from an efficiency stand point.HTH

I seem to recall that Jays was a modified closed loop/manifold with nozzles buried in the sand bed rather than asupport rack setup, but no reason that it wont work. just a matter of figuring out where you want the flow to go and design around that

heh heh - sorry about that. The viewing room that it's in has been redone in walnut and that is just awsome. Even saw the first tank that Steve setup before the upgrade - we have our club mtg there during the summer and our annual b-b-que too.

Here's another link for a spraybar/LR rack http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...hreadid=371622 just remember that you will need a "bigger" pump to push the water thru all the elbows
