I would say an inch minimum for that height.

You can go to Garf.org and click on the how to pages then on the Aquarium construction & tips the top link will be a calculator to get the cut list and the thickness of material for your tank.

Hey Chris I would talk to Bobby at CBA. He's gotten quite good at building them. We spoke about it once and he saiid that the large holing tanks made out of 1/2 were bowing. Thats why he is using 1 inch.
With that said, the local petsmart here has a great 8 foot long tank that is 1/2 inch but it is only 18 inches tall and they have a full top glued on with access holes for to get in it.
Not sure on the 30 inch tall though.

Check :

http://www.acrylicaquariums.com/aquariums_standard.htm, they use 3/4 for your dimensions...

Are you going to upgrade to 300 ?????

1/2" will hold water, if that's all you want it to do It will bow significantly though requires substantial bracing, thus 3/4" would be highly recommended, even thicker if you want less bowing, bracing, etc. BTW the calc is severely flawed but can be found at www.cyro.com more specifically at http://cyro.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/cyr...wYWdlPTE*&p_li=

HTH,

James
