Looks like it is moving more west again. Perhaps the worst of it will miss you there in PC. Good luck!

I did my leak test today! I have created a sieve! Both bulkhead drains leak at the connection with the pvc. I glued those suckers really well and added more to the outside to plug any possible pinholes, but both have steady 1per second drips. I would really appreciate any advice, tips, cure-alls, magic potions, or what ever to fix this without having to cut the standpipe off. Would using more primer and pvc cement on the outside of the connection work? I really am afraid to cut this off to redo it-please tell me there is a way to fix it in place!

My set up had some of the same leaks in one of the CLSs. I put on a heavy coat of cement on the outside of the joint to seal it. It took two attemps but it worked! HTH

I'm glad to hear that, Robert! That is what I will do and hope for the best. One good thing, the cls bulkhead and plumbing are fine and the scwd and pump are working well. Just does not have the flow I wanted. I'll just plan on a pump upgrade somewhere down the line and make do with what I have for now. I have double outlets on each side of the cls returns - I think I will close off one outlet on each side and maybe put a 3/4" to 1/2"reducer on the end of the nozzles to up the water pressure. The spraybar sump return has a very soft flow. I guess that is good since it will not restrict the flow rate as much, but I don't think it is going to lift detritus off the bottom. I may just have to stick those maxijets back in the display after all. Darn!

While my spray doesnt have huge velocity it has just enough to push the garbage to the front of the tank. This makes the cleaning simple and also maintains softer flow for the critters that like it that way. At the same time the overhead CLS keeps big flow on top of the tank for floew loving critters!

Heres a pic of the affects of the spraybar.

Well, I plugged the sieve today. I used the pvc cement all over the connections and it seemed to work. Started raining befor I finished so I will have to double check it again tomorrow befor draining it and hauling it all back into the house. (tank is set up on the back porch for the leak test). The overflow, drains, and spraybar work flawlessly, IMO, now that the leaks are fixed. It is quiet, too, even though I have not replaced the cap on the standpipe yet. The cls does make a gurgling sound when it switches back and forth, but otherwise seems good.

I'm afraid this is as far as I will likely get on this thread. For anyone who has not seen my other posts, I will be going offline for several months starting tomorrow...er today...or whenever AOL cuts me off! When I get back online I'll post pics to show the tank up and running.

Thankyou all for the great advice, tips, shared knowledge and especially for making this such a friendly and enjoyable place.

Peace.
