Question

46 gal Oceanic hex need mh!!

Hello all,
I plan on upgrading my lighting so i can keep some hard corals. I was wondering if anybody had any ideas about a mh hood with a couple of vhos or pc's. The problem is i can't hang it, and it is a "hex" tank. Please help me out, i have no idea what to do

i have not seen any pre-made ones. for hex's you will prolly have to make it or get someone to make it for you. depending on the dimensions you may be able to get away with a single 250w MH in the center. PC's may be your best choice for surrounding the MH since they are shorter in length.

you also might want to do a search in the General forum for hex hoods. i know there are several examples running around.

HTH,

G~

AS I recall a Hex that size isn't very wide but pretty tall. Prolly the easiest would be to make a hex canopy sans top and get a pendant style light that can set on top.
Depending on size it may be hard to get PC in there without blocking the MH light, so I would consider the XM bulb in 10K or similar

If you have a hood then this is the best place to get a retrofit kit.

I got the 250w SE halide for my 58g here and I just ordered the 150w HQI for my new 18g.
