been running a 175w 14k e39 mogul with an m57 ballast with just a capacitor for around 3 months now, over my 20L reef setup with a custom hood/reflector.
recently the bulb quit which i thought was odd considering its age, but i ordered another bulb anyway... today i screwed in the new bulb and it wont fire
the ballast still has a buzzing sound when plugged in..
im pretty sure its not the socket, ive taken it all apart rewired it.
i think maybe the cap went? or should I try w/ an ignitor ?
is there any way to troubleshoot this more efficiently than ordering a new ballast kit?
just started grad school so i dont have a lot of time (or $) to eff with the setup right now
managed to temporarily rig-up 2 65w 50/50 power compacts... but its just not the same
