Sony CD-Mavica 400

Does anyone else have one that they use to take shots of their tanks. If so teach me some of your tips!

  1. Remove the lens cap
  2. Point the camera at your subject
  3. Push the little button on the top right side of the camera

You should have dropped me a line. Could've tried to get together for lunch or something....

Sorry for being vague in the advice. I use Olympus, so I can't help much with specifics for your camera.

I here CD is old technology, you want something that stores your pic's on memory cards rather than CD's (my parents are professional photographers). Memory cards produce better reproductions of what you take pictures of.

Please explain how a 4mega pixle written on a CD is less quality than a 4 mega pixle written to a mem. stick?

Just as I thought Batman! LOL
The main benifits is media availability, and the amount of shots on media. I get about 90 Fine 4mega pixal shots on one $.60 disk. Label it ,set it, and forget it

Thats 185 meg. @ .60 cents
How much would 185 meg mem. stick cost?

Just remember that those cd's can be scratched, broken etc. Also, the writable ones only have a 5 year guaranteed shelf life, although they usually last a lot longer than that. Just a warning that cd's are not really the best media for long term archival, although all media has it's downsides.

10-4 Greg
But most of the time I treat them just like a mem. stick and transfer them to the hard drive for proscessing.

You are right mafiaman, talked to my parents and they said same quality, but not for archival use. They also said its old technology and if you want to take repeat shots then cd is slower than mem stick, and like greg said dont scrath that cd!! My parents been pro photographers for 25 years with their pictures in many magazines and such, they dont own a cd camera but most most of their camaras are in the 5 to 10k range (as far as cost). But for hobbyist use I myself dont see a problem with CD's except they are a liittle slower and dont like the idea of scratching your pictures, but to each his own.

My post about being better image quality was false I got some advice from some very knowledgable people and said quality is same but there are advantages to both, myself I would lean more to mem stick (which I own). Since I download all to hard drive after I take them, I like mem stick better. Less hassle I think. I am sure I will get some more smart or snide comments so I am done posting for a while. Peace and Chicken Grease. TJ
