oooh! polarized filters are awesome!

Look at this! I put my polarized filter on my dslr lense... it's cool cuz once it's screwed onto the end of the lense you can turn the filter itself to adjust how intense the filter works... wow! Here's some shots of my dirty bird bath (dirty birds!)... look at the difference! Then my moonflower, it really cuts down on the glare off of the white so that you can see the veins on the flower... then there are my stargazers just to show them off.

Now you see why polarizing sunglasses are so popular with fishermen.

As a sailor however, I love them, although polarizing lenses make some LCD displays unreadable.

I use a polarizing filter for most of my outdoor landscape pics, especially beach and water pics. Also try using it for sunsets, it really brings out the colors. With a dslr, you can do some great experiments with filters - see what you like.
