Minolta Dimage Z1

Does anyone here use the Dimage Z1? That's what I'm using currently. I have some trouble with the macro feature actually focusing at the distance that it is supposed to. Also, I'm interested in any tips used for great photos with this particular camera. I'm pretty good with composition, but tank photos are new to me.

Thanks!
Melissa

I don't have the Dimage- (I have the 400si for film, and the Nikon D70 for digital), but one tip I've learned that you may need to switch to manual focus for macro shots. Take a shot, tweak the focus one way, take another one, tweak it the other way, and take a third shot.

If possible take the flash card to a computer and take a look at the shots (leaving the camera on the tripod, in place). Repeat as needed to get an idea of where the focus point is with that camera and lens.

Other tips are to always use a tripod and a flash. Turning off all the pumps helps too, but don't leave them off for too long, or forget to turn them back on. Slow shutter speeds and water motion create blurred pictures. Not using a flash creates slow shutter speeds.

HTH-

Zeph,
I will try your suggestions. I hadn't been using the flash because I figured I'd have trouble with the glare. The tripod I have used helps greatly with focus and shake.

Thanks again!
