you dont really need a expensive camera to take pics.
in photography i think there is only two things that make a the quality of a picture great. the Lens and the photographer.
i just have a nikon D60 with a 35mm and 200mm lens, and a few different filters.
i used to have a cheap Panasonic point and shoot a few years back i took amazing pics with that little guy.

I have a Nikon Cool Pix, but the auto focus dose not work well, and if the image is not outdoors in full sunlight its very grainy... but I have played with the settings and got a few good pictures, but it will not do Actinic at all, everything turns blue, grainy, and blurry (even with the tripod)...

very very very nice, but i just have a small question, What does an ND filter do in aquarium photography specifically??

In photography and optics, a neutral density filter or ND filter can be a colorless (clear) or grey filter. An ideal neutral density filter reduces and/or modifies intensity of all wavelengths or colors of light equally, giving no changes in hue of color rendition.
The purpose of standard photographic neutral density filters is to allow the photographer greater flexibility to change the aperture, exposure time and/or motion blur of subject in different situations and atmospheric conditions.-- wiki.
i have noticed that it will make the colors pop even more. but will also give a slight haziness around the subject. just look at the first pic. it really pops but its got a tiny bit of blur/haze around the coral tips.

WOW!!! Those pic's are awesome. When you can take a pic of some weeds growing out of a bunch of rubble, and make it look that good, you're wwwwaaaaaayyyyyy beyond my skill level.

Sweet pics...outstanding clarity & color.
Nate...I had a Coolpix 900...great little camera for a grand. But the batteries would not last very long and flash pics were terrible beyond a couple feet. But it was a nice little camera.

The blur is caused from movement of the coral, not your nd filter. I dont see any reason to use a nd filter in aquarium photography.(video would be a different story) All a nd filter will do is make you loose a f/stop(s) making a picture darker with a shallower depth of field or a longer exposure causing unwanted movement.
Nice pictures tho.

I just have the S570, this is my third one, the first had a lens failure, then it was replaced, and then the second has a lens failure, but this one so far has been working good. knock on wood...
