f stop settings?


Why am i unable to get my f stop below 3.3? i can go all the way up to 8.0 f stop but not below 3.3 ?

It's probably all the camera can go down to. Entry level SLR lenses sit around 4.0-5.6, depening on the zoom. I've got a macro that goes down to 2.8, but it was quite steep.

Yep, it's the lowest the lens was designed to handle.

If you look closely around the rim of the lens, it will show you a 1:"" somewhere. This is the f-number. On many zoom lenses, the f-number will change from low to high from the shortest to longest focal ratio. So you may have a 1:""-"" showing the min and max f-number.
