camera help

i am thinking about get this..
i want to spend 300 or so.. dont have a large budget
the Kodak Z740 .. i can get it local for 280$ 10x optical on it

what do you guys think?

Hi Tim,
I do not know allot about digitals.........I am still on the learning curve. I would ask yourself what is the main thing you want to use this camera for i.e. your tank & critter pics and work from there. Also have you compared this camera to other brands like a Canon or Nikon etc.

loking a clarity and yes i want to use it for tank shots, and normal life stuff.
they did not have cannons on sale or anythgin there that was close to the 10x optical. geoff told me it was the optical that is more important

I agree. The optics/lense of the camera is more important than the body or the brand name. Sounds like you are getting a good deal.........

i did do a search on the cannons and nikon.. i cannot touch those $$$$$ for me.. one thing i did read on the kodak.. i can switch out the lens for a "bigger" one

Oh that is great if you can switch it out. I didn't see that when I looked at your specs. in the above post. I missed it. If so you can always upgrade the lense down the road if need be. Back in the "old days" of SLR cameras if they had a bayonet mount then we could put a great lense on any body. It is the lense and the person's eye that takes the picture. Also things could be manipulated in the darkroom and now on one's desktop which is much safer, fun and cheaper.

yeah iut has a 1.4 x lens that can be added to it. i may do a run over to bestbuy and look at the others they have there first.. gota go get a Stevie ray Vaugh cd
