Camera Choices.

Hey all,

Im planning on getting a new camera. Just wondering which models are in your opinion good. Here are some specifications I want in for camera.

1. SLR
2. High resolution (over 8 megapixels)
3. Changeable lenses
4. Canon or Nikon
5. Good for amateur to professional photgraphers
6. Great for outdoor shooting

Any suggestions are welcome thanks

I like Nikon better!I have the 8700 everything on your list except #3 But the lens goes from 35- 280mm and does micro and you can add on converter to add a 3 X converter or fish eye or a sep.micro.

The canon is a good unit. I prefer the Nikon. I have seen and felt the Canons and the Nikon actually feels like a real camera. Not a toy.
I have been extremely happy with the D70.

Another vote for the canon - one huge reason is I already had a canon rebel 35mm, and some lenses...But I seriously was considering the nikon, true in stock form vs the dig rebel, the rebel feels more like a toy, but with the battery back on the rebel i like the bigger grip than the nikon (I have bigger hands) Either way you cant go wrong with the quality of the pics, both nikon & canon will take excellent photographics and with the ablity to buy better glass down the line, you will see more of an improvement...

Rebel XT, hands down (not quite as good as the 20D (ISO 3200, 8.2mp, a few other software features), but the $300 price difference puts the rebel in the lead). Unless you want to go with the 30d.

The XT is made completely of plastic; a deterrent for me at first, until I realized plastics nowadays, in some cases, will outperform metal in terms of weight and durability (metal will dent, plastic won't).

Anything over 8Mp will be in the 2000+ range.
