Any thoughts
I am looking at buying a Fujifilm Finepix S2100hd. I can afford this now or wait for months to buy a Canon dslr. Any thoughts? I own a Nikon 7900 but I think I would have more control over the Fuji. Thanks

Wait for the DSLR. You will be much happier in the end.

Check out BHphoto.com they have a used section, I have bought from it with good results. I use a Nikon D200, Nikon D50, F100, And I have four other film cameras. (Photography is my other passion) Like chiapet said, wait it out on a dslr, they are certainly worth it. Even the Nikon D40x is sweet!

And since you own a Nikon 7900.......the lenses are interchangable, stick with nikon if you like the one you have.

Thanks for the replies. The 7900 is a phd camera. I have always had Nikon SLRs so I would like to stay with Nikon. It is a cost thing.

Thanks for the site, I do believe all I have to decide now is which one. Are there any opinions on the Nikon DSLRs? I am liking the D70S. Thanks again Tony

the D70 is a decent camera. Probably more than you ever need. For me though, I would be inclined to go more in the line of the D200, but I shot (and still do on occasion) professionally for many years.

How about a hint on a lens for this camera (D70s}? I would be using it for the boys wrestling matches his violin concerts and for taking pictures of my tank. If this sis going to take two then thats cool also.

You are going to want a varied array of lenses
My personal arsenal now is a couple 28-80mm Nikkors, a 70-210 Nikkor,and a Sigma 105mm f2.8 1:1 Macro
I have a few other lenses that I use but those aren't used as frequently anymore and pretty much stay here at the house. My suggestion, stick with Nikon Nikkor lenses and don't buy the cheapest you see. You are going to want something with a D in the name or and ED. A good array of lenses will make or break how happy you are with the camera

I use the 18-200 with VR I LOVE it. Its pricey....but well worth it, just about the only lens you need for most applications. I have a 70-200 with a fixed aperture of 2.8, but i hardly use it. I also have several macro lenses for my film cameras. I just hardly use them, except for artsy projects.
Its come down a lot in price, I paid $2100 for D200 and the lens, but it was when it came out 3-4 years ago.
This is the lens im using, its well worth the money!
