Using the Website Name Temporarily

i was wonder if it was alright for me to use the web site name temporarily for a class project. I'm currently enrolled in a Web design class and wanted to make a fake website for a class project. I named it TheReekTank.com and it sells marine fish, coral and inverts, I have not posted it yet b/c I was waiting to ask you guys/gals, I was told for educational uses I wouldn't have to ask, but I ask anyways. I can post a link to the website if you guys/gals approve
thanks
William

Why not make it something closer to being personalized? WilliamsReefSite.com

As long as it is clearly a class project and not in any way real, then I don't see a problem.

If you make it something personal, then after your school project is over, you can convert it to your own site to show your own tank on.

Does it really matter since http://www.thereeftank.com is already a registered domain there is really no way for him to publish the "fictional" site.....

Any way he wants to name his site www.thereeKtank.com not www.thereeftank.com

Sure it matters. Try going to www.micorsoft.com (a common misspelling)and see what you get. Its an attempt (successful) to draw traffic from a common mistake. This spelling is a little different but its still nice of him to ask for permission. thegeektank.com, with the r and g being close on the keyboard, would be a potentially bigger mistake than this one. And, as long as he doesn't try to portray it as TRT and makes it clear that it isn't TRT.

As for publishing a "fictional" site, it is trivial. I can mirror TRT very easily and it's trivial. Simply setup a CRON job to pull content from the server, display it as my own. It happens every day with Usenet.
