Could be me, but when I click on the "Reviews" tab, I get a blank page.

Any suggestions?

Abbreviations, acronyms, and other such shortcuts

Ok...I have finally made the jump from fresh water to salt water. I have a 95 gallon FOLR (fish only live rock....right?) tank. I have been "lurking" these boards for a while and love it!! But since I am not a reefer (yet) and still a noob in salty water I read all of these posts and do not understand all of the abbreviations and acronyms. I believe that I am picking up on some of the most obvious (FOLR and LFS {local fish store?}) and hopefully correctly, but is there anywhere in these boards that lists all of these? If not, perhaps a sticky post it for noobs would be cool!! Anyways, thought that might help straighten me out as I forge on the massive amount of info in here. I cant say it enough....wonderful place, and THANKS !!!

I would see if there is some way to get the lurkers and newbies more into the fold. I am not afraid to ask dumb questions and get great advice but feel like I don't give enough back.

Are there some kindergarten level frags to grow or something so us new guys and gals can participate in swapping. The only advice to give I have now is how to dump water all over the place, overheat a tank or grow ich successfully.

Please Increase attachable file size to 250,000 bites so we could attach photos without editing and down sizing the photo files. I think this would be easier for us to share our personal pictures.

the older verison of TRT did have an acroyms area in the ref. place. i looked for it up and down and do not see it ant more.. IMO ( in my opinion) it would be a good thing to have around again..
Oh Brooke Ohh greg? whatcha say?
i did do a search and found other threads including the FAQ, but that only leads to the smilies..

A lil late to add this on the acronym thing, but i'll put this on here anyway.
Try Greg's website :www.saltyzoo.com , and click on the "abrev. dictionary" on the bar on the left side, that'll fix you up,,,,looks like it's got most of them,,,,
except "N.U.T.S.O" LOL

Suggest "Problems or Worst case" forum topic

A place for new folks to read about "worst case" happenings like:

How many tanks break out there?
How long did equipment last before leaking... ect..
All my reef rocks feel and scatched the tank ... ect

Everyone makes this hobby sound great - but what are the pitfalls that us new folks can look forward too after we get our tanks and all the rest?

Yea I know.. I am a "Glass is half empty" kind of person! LOL

would making the search function more prominant help? you have a lot of good questions about the pitfalls, but there are so many questions that could relate to that that it would be huge. thinking along those lines, would a prominant newbie page be helpfull? this would be a static page, hopefully if they have more questions they would join the forums, give the basic help on starting up a tank, and what to expect in the beginning.

is this kinda what you are thinking?

Jeff...........

Geoff, if putting a whole nother area of newbie type question / forums/ threads happens then the GRD will die off .. isnt the GRD sorta the new and not new area anyway? the think tank is or seems to be a more in depth area.. maybe making the FAQ button bigger
i know when i first came here and looked around and was reaading a lot.. it took a few before i was comfortable to do a first time post.

i was thinking of a static page, not a forum. i agree making a beginner forum would be detrimental to the whole philosophy of TRT. i was just thinking of a page that has our basic views on setting up a tank/what to expect in the first year. nothing more than that. just something to give people an idea on what is involved in reef keeping.
