Well you want to upload to the gallery. Are you using this link?
http://www.thereeftank.com/gallery/upload.php?&c=
Then, before you hit submit, select the "member galleries" category. It may give you a preview, at which point you'll hit "process" and they'll be in your gallery.

Your problem is that you have used up your allotted space for pics. You need to go to User Cp........then on the left hand side all the way down, click on attachments. Then erase some of your earlier pictures you have posted.

yes, deleting them will erase them. That's why I recommend using the gallery instead of merely attaching pictures to the thread. Also, resizing the picture prior to uploading will greatly increase the number of pictures you're able to store.

Just so I fully understand. Going forward if I want photo's in a thread.
I would >re-size> upload to gallery > then use the gallery "link" to show the pictures ? Basically having a link to my gallery .

using image tags, you can have the actual picture show up in the thread, not just a link to the gallery. why you copy the direct link of the image in the gallery (one of the options if you're viewing the picture), then paste it like so, [img]direct link[/img], the picture will be displayed.
